Headsets and handsets |
| Your PC needs to be sound enabled to make voice calls to other PC’s, landlines and mobiles.
The following suppliers can provide handsets and headsets which are suitable for sound-enabling PC’s for use with WhitePhone: |

| You should check the specifications carefully to ensure that the device you order will work with your PC. |

| Connecting handsets and headsets |
There are three main ways of connecting handsets and headsets to your PC: |
Connected via jack plugs to the PC’s sound card
This method is the most traditional and proven. In some cases you will have to configure the sound card for use with a headset (refer to the manual supplied with your sound card driver).
Connected via a USB connection – using software driver to enable the computer for sound
USB sound drivers increase demands on the PC's main processor which can affect sound quality depending on the processing power of your PC. There may also be initialisation delays unless your USB headset has been specifically designed to work with VoIP systems by using "keep alive". |
Wireless – eg Bluetooth
Has the advantage of being able to move around more, but these needs a wireless connection device on the PC. |
| It is also possible to use other combinations, such as a microphone and sound-only headsets, or standard built in microphones and speakers.
We don’t recommend the use of speakers for voice calls as there tends to be an unacceptable level of echo.
