Checking Personal Firewalls

See how to configure most used firewalls to allow WhitePhone connections:

Windows XP SP2 Firewall

To check your Windows XP SP2 Firewall settings please follow these steps:

1. Open Windows XP Security Centre. Go to Start, Control Panel and double-click on "Windows Firewall" icon to open the program.

2. In the General tab check that the "Don't allow exceptions" box is NOT ticked.

3. Now click on Exceptions tab and find WhitePhone (Personal/Business) Main Applications in the Exceptions list. Make sure that the box next to WhitePhone is ticked as shown below.

4. If the WhitePhone (Personal/Business) Main Application isn't in the Programs and Services list click on "Add Program.".

Find WhitePhone in the new pop-up window, select it and click OK. (or both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded).

McAfee Security Centre

After you have downloaded WhitePhone your McAfee Security Centre will display an alert message on the right hand side "Application Wants to Access the Internet".

You will see a question: The program WhitePhone (Personal/Business) Main Application is requesting access to the Internet. Do you want to allow it?

Click on Grant Access to allow Internet connection.

To check your McAfee Security Centre software settings please follow these steps:

  1. Open McAfee Security Program and click on Personal Firewall Plus on the left hand side.

2. In the "I want to." list click on the "View the Internet Applications List". You will see a new pop up window.

3. Find the WhitePhone application in the Internet Applications list and select it with a left-mouse click. (or both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded).

4. Under Permissions choose "Allow Full Access" for WhitePhone program to work with all features (for both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded).

Norton Internet Security

After you have downloaded WhitePhone your Norton Internet Security will display an alert message "Program Control. WhitePhone (Personal/ Business).exe is attempting to connect to a server".

You will see a question: What do you want to do?

Click on Always allow connections from this program on all ports.

To check your Norton Internet Security software settings please follow these steps:

1. Open Norton Internet Security, click on Personal Firewall. Now click on the "Configure" button at the right bottom of your Norton window.

2. Choose "Programs" tab and find WhitePhone in the Programs list. Right-click on the WhitePhone program to bring up the Program Control window. Choose "Permit all" to allow access for WhitePhone traffic. (or both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded).

Zone Alarm Pro security system

After you have downloaded WhitePhone your Zone Alarm will display an alert message at the right bottom of your screen as shown below.

The first alert "WhitePhone (Personal/Business) Main Application is trying to access the Internet" needs to be allowed to make sure that the software will be connected to the Internet.

You need to tick the "Remember this setting" box and then click the "Allow" button. This will make sure that WhitePhone is in the list of allowed programmes.

The second alert "WhitePhone (Personal/Business) Main Application is trying to act as a server" tick the "Remember this setting" box and click the "Allow" button.

Please note: If you have a personal ZoneAlarm Pro password set up to have administrator privileges you need to enter it before making any changes in the ZoneAlarm software. Just enter your password into the "Password" pop-up window as shown below and click OK.

To check your Zone Alarm Pro Security software settings please follow these steps:

  1. Open Zone Alarm Pro and click on "Firewall" at the left hand side.

2. To check your program settings click on "Program Control" on the left hand side.

2. Select the Programs tab and find the WhitePhone software in the list of programs. Right-click under Trust Level and choose "Trusted" or "Super" (for both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded).

3. Select the WhitePhone line. Right-click under Server:Trusted to open the menu and choose "Allow". Repeat the same with Access and Server columns. (for both Personal and Business if you have both sets of software loaded)

4. In the next column under "Send Mail" right-click to open the menu and choose "Block".
